Canning Classes at Goodland Kitchen

We’ve been canning up a storm at Goodland Kitchen, and you can too! Canning 101 Description: Our canning class will teach you everything you need to know to start canning safely and confidently. Topics will include equipment, water-boiling, pressure canning, safe canning practices, and local farmers. You’ll learn how to make jam with pectin and low-sugar, and how to make homemade pickles. Date: Wednesday July 27 Time: 5:30 – 9:00 pm Cost: $55 Includes: You will go home with at one jar of jam and one jar of pickles. About Our Tamales

Our tamales by our made by Roberto Garcia, our wonderful prep chef of Mexican descent who loves to make tamales. His tamales are so well known and loved, that Edible Ojai published a story about Roberto’s cooking in the Winter edition of 2008. Read it here. WEDNESDAY’S TAMALE SPECIAL $8.50 1 pulled pork or chili cheese tamale, organic black beans in chili juju, organic brown rice, side of mole, and a pinch of cortido. More about the food: Cortido is an El Salvadorean Cabbage Salad, slightly fermented. Of course we make ours with vegetables from local farms, including cabbage from Tom Shepard’s Farm.
